Postdoctoral position in Scientific Social Responsibility
The Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen, Denmark invites applications for a 1-year postdoctoral position under the project Scientific Social Responsibility to be filled by 1 June 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Job content
The research project Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) is financed by the Danish Research Council for the Social Sciences and the postdoctoral position is specifically designed to work with the following research question ‘How research managers in nano- and biotechnology make sense of issues of social responsibility and how they try to incorporate such considerations into their strategic and managerial activities in the laboratory.’ Research should include data from at least two of the three countries investigated in the SSR Project: Denmark, USA and UK.
The candidate is expected to present a research plan (appendix 4) that fits with the overall project description of the SSR project.

The positions require a PhD degree or similar qualifications.
Qualification requirements
The following professional qualifications and personal competences are required:
• Research qualifications, which will be assessed in relation to the period of active research, the degree of originality and the academic output.
• The applicant’s scientific record, academic breadth and depth, rigour, thoroughness and accuracy, as well as academic relevance in relation to the advertisement for the position.
• Participation in networks – national and international

Applicants may choose a maximum of three publications for assessment, of which at least two of the selected works must have been published within the five years immediately preceding the deadline for applications. Publication dates must be clearly marked on the publication list. The publications selected must be uploaded as attachments and numbered from 1-3.

Appointment procedure
After the application deadline, the Dean will set up an expert assessment committee to evaluate applicants specifically in relation to the advertised position. The applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each candidate will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment relating to themselves before the appointment is finalised.

Salary and conditions of employment
The post will be filled according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
