The Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf and the TU Bergakademie Freiberg recently founded the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology.

 

The HZDR invites applications for the

Professorship (W3) for Metallurgy and the Recycling of High Tech Metals

at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology

of the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg


which is to be filled at the earliest possible date. This professorship also includes the position as


Head of the Research Group for Metallurgy and the Recycling of High Tech Metals at the Helmholtz Insti-tute Freiberg for Resource Technology


In accordance with § 58 SächsHSG (Saxon Law on Higher Education), candidates must have completed a uni-versity degree in either engineering or natural sciences (metallurgy, materials science, materials technology, physics, chemistry, or related fields), have a proven track record in teaching, a doctorate and habilitation or the equivalent of habilitation as well as experience in managing interdisciplinary research groups.

 

For the newly established Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology with a projected staff number of approx. 100 employees, we are looking for an outstanding researcher with an international track record of exper-tise in the field of metallurgy and metallurgical recycling technologies for secondary and primary metalliferous raw materials of high technology and functional materials. The focal points of research include technologies that make more efficient use of both conventional and unconventional resources with the specific objective of providing materials for applications in modern key technologies and energy technology. Research at the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg will center on interdisciplinary projects along the entire value chain of mineral resources. Therefore, close and efficient cooperation with other research groups in the institute, as well as with institutes of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg will be required.

 

In addition to an excellent track record in publications and the acquisition of third-party funds, candidates must also have the appropriate experience in international cooperation, for example, with partners from the raw materi-als industry sector, as well as management experience. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, which also includes the ability to teach in English, as well in academic self-administration.
