Postdoc in Computational Screening of Low-Cost Thin-Film Solar Cells

The Center for Atomic-scale Materials Design has an opening f*1or one two-year postdoc position. The successful applicant will use first-principles quantum mechanical calculations to study the atomic and electronic structure of low-cost thin-film solar cells. In particular the possibilities of designing new solar cells based on copper-zinc-tin-sulfide (CZTS) materials will be investigated.

The project will be carried out at the Center for Atomic-scale Materials Design (CAMD) located at the Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark north of Copenhagen.

We offer a dynamic and international working environment with research activities within several areas of theoretical and computational solid state physics including (photo-)catalysis, electro-chemistry, and molecular electronics. We have extensive experience with the development and application of electronic structure theory, and our real space code GPAW is under continuous development. Our Linux supercomputer cluster, Niflheim, containing 5000+ cores provides optimal conditions for large-scale computer simulations.

Funding is provided through the Center on Nanostructuring for Efficient Energy Conversion (CNEEC) under the U. S. Department of Energy and by the Catalysis for Sustainable Energy (CASE) initiative under the Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Higher Education.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. Furthermore candidates should have a background in theoretical physics or quantum chemistry. Basic knowledge of Density Functional Theory (DFT) and some programming experience is preferred.

We offer
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare. We strive for academic excellence, collegial respect and freedom tempered by responsibility. The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is a leading technical university in northern Europe and benchmarks with the best universities in the world.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 years. The position is available beginning February 15, 2012 or as soon as possible.
