ARTEK is a Center under the Department of Civil Engineering (DTU Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark.
Job description and tasks
The ARTEK Center at DTU Civil Engineering has been successfully established and consolidated during the past 10 years. We are now facing a generation shift in the management of the ARTEK Center and are looking for its next successful leader.
The new Head of ARTEK will be given the challenging task not only to continue the operation of ARTEK but to develop ARTEK proactively in accordance with the rapidly evolving needs and opportunities in the society of Greenland. Possibilities for establishing a DTU research and education center in Sisimiut in Greenland are presently being investigated.
The tasks of the new Head of ARTEK include:
- Establishing a forward oriented strategy and action plan for the next generation of ARTEK
- Managing and optimizing ongoing activities of ARTEK
- Proactively interacting with stakeholders in Greenland, Denmark and abroad
- Developing, initiating and coordinating new initiatives on
- education
- research
- innovation
- and services to the public and the private sectors
- Fundraising
- Management of personnel and budgets
- Coordination of ARTEK activities with the newly initiated Polar-DTU center
Qualifications
Applicants should have profound interests and skills for strategic and operational management in the sector of education, research and development.
It is expected that the new Head of ARTEK will spend a substantial part of the time and possibly at a later stage be fully employed at our campus in Sisimiut, Greenland. Experience from working and/or living in Greenland or other arctic environments is thus an advantage.
It is important that the new Head of ARTEK has interest and proven flair for bridging the gap between strategy and implementation in the context of large interdisciplinary projects preferably with relevance for engineering in arctic environments. Finally, good communication skills and commitment to interact with the Greenland society at all levels is a must.
Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:
- Background in research and education in engineering at the level of Associate or full Professor
- Experience as manager or project leader of larger projects
- Experience related to working and living in the arctic
- Collaboration and communication skills
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
