Job description:
The professorship is within the discipline of Ecotechnology and Environmental Science, an interdisciplinary science embracing studies of the relationship between human society and the natural environment. Present research within Ecotechnology is broad and embraces a range of issues from sustainable assessment of technological system and environmental chemistry to societal steering systems for sustainable development.
The emphasis of this professorship is to develop systems, techniques and other tools for a sustainable use of natural resources so as to facilitate the move towards a sustainable society. An important task is to make use of and stimulate further development of existing research.
Eligibility and assessment criteria:
To be eligible for employment as a professor the applicant must have demonstrated scientific and teaching ability. The assessment process will emphasize both. Special consideration will be given to documented interdisciplinary research ability, which will be assessed on the basis of the quality and quantity of received publications and other documents with consideration taken to both depth and breadth. Attention will also be given to the ability to develop and carry through independent research. Assessment of teaching ability will take account of experience of supervision and examination, in particular at masters and doctoral level. The pedagogic skill, to link research and education in order to speed up the adaption of society to sustainability, will also be considered.
The assessment will also take into consideration administrative and other skills that are of importance for the employment. Leadership and ability to develop the organization, ability to cooperate with the surrounding society and to inform about R&D work and general cooperative ability will also be evaluated.
Duties:
The holder of this position will have an overarching responsibility for her/his own research, the research and research training within the field of the position, together with teaching and supervision at basic, advanced and postgraduate level. Duties also embrace initiation and involvement in planning of research projects, which also includes such tasks as actively working with applications for external research funding. Administrative obligations and management tasks may also be included.
