The Department of
Signal Processing is part of the Faculty of Computing and Electrical
Engineering of Tampere University of Technology (TUT). Signal processing
has been recognized as one of the strategic top fields of research
specially supported by TUT.

Postgraduate Researcher position at the Department of Signal Processing, Tampere University of Technology.
The 3D Media Team at the Department of Signal Processing of Tampere
University of Technology is seeking for a highly motivated recent
graduate with a genuine enthusiasm towards research and interest in
pursuing doctoral studies in signal processing.

| Requirements: |
The chosen candidate will carry
out research on specific topics from the modern frame and sampling
theory with applications to digital holography and digital image
processing.
Particular emphasis is given on efficient sampling of diffraction
fields and conversion of various 3D graphical models to holographic
representations for subsequent 3D scene reconstruction and holographic
display.
Candidates are expected to hold an M.Sc. degree in Engineering,
Physics, or Mathematics (or any equivalent discipline characterized by
solid mathematical foundations) and have experience in signal or image
processing, or computer graphics.
Mandatory requirements:
- Linear algebra; metric, normed, and inner-product spaces; functional and harmonic analysis;
- Basics of electromagnetism and wave propagation;
- Basics of probability and statistics;
- Experience in Matlab and C/C++ programming;
- Experience in using software tools for 3D graphical modeling and rendering (Blender, 3Dmax or similar);
- Proficiency in written English.

| Salary: |
The salary will be based on
both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in
accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria
applied to teaching and research stuff, the position of a researcher is
placed on the job demands levels 1-4. In addition, employees receive
performance-based salary.

| Trial period: |
Trial period is four months.
|
| Other: |
The initial appointment will be for one year. Extension will be possible depending on the availability of the funding.
