At the University of Bergen, Department of Biomedicine, a full-time PhD-post is available for three (3) years. The post is tied to the project “Targeting invasive and angiogenic mechanisms in human glioblastoma” financed by the Research Council of Norway.

 

Our research group is working on invasive mechanisms of human glioblastoma in vivo using a unique tumor animal model. The future goal is to target invasive and angiogenic mechanisms simultaneously for an efficient therapy. Please see our website http://www.neuroconcept.org for further information.

Qualifications and qualities
- You must hold a master’s degree in cell biology or equivalent education
- We expect you to have experience from cell culture, PCR, western blot and immunohistochemistry
- It is an advantage if you in addition also have experience from animal work
- You must be able to document a proficient knowledge of English
- You must be independent, motivated and responsible, and also have a great work capacity and enthusiasm for research

 

The PhD program
The candidate must meet the requirements for admission to the PhD program at the University of Bergen. As a PhD-candidate you will take part in an approved education program for a PhD-degree within the given time limit. Application for admission to the PhD program, including a plan for implementation of the PhD training, will be worked out in collaboration with the actual research group after you have signed the Contract of Employment. The teaching language will normally be Norwegian. A final plan for the completion of the researcher education must be approved by the Faculty no later than three months after the successful candidate enters upon the post/position.

 

Position as PhD-candidate
The collective research period is three years. If you have previously held a recruitment post or participated in a Medical Student Research Program, this period will be deducted from the total employment period.

- Your starting salary will be in pay grade 48 (code 1017/LR20.8, currently NOK 391 300 a year). Further pay promotion follows ordinary meriting regulations. For applicants with a completed supervised residency and for applicants with a minimum of one year of employment in a dentist position: pay grade 49 (code 1017/20.8, currently NOK 398 000). Further pay promotion follows ordinary meriting regulations. For applicants with completed specialist training: pay grade 56 (code 1017/LR20.15, currently NOK 448 300).
