The research programme Mistra Biotech – Biotechnology
for Sustainable and Competitive Agriculture and Food Systems starts in
the beginning of 2012. The programme is interdisciplinary with the
research areas plant biotechnology, novel molecular breeding tools,
ethics, consumers’ attitudes and choices and Swedish competitiveness. A
centre for agriculture and food system analysis and synthesis will be
developed. The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is
hosting the programme. Lund University and KTH are partners. The major
funders of the programme are the Foundation for strategic environmental
research (Mistra) and SLU. Within this programme a position we are
now seeking a qualified candidate to our Agribusiness Economics Unit.
Duties:
The incumbent is to work in the general area of industrial
organization with a particular emphasis given to contracts, and network
analysis of innovations. The successful applicant will further be
expected to 1) Implement the tasks within the MISTRA research project
2) Draft reports and produce publication-quality papers. The person
filling this position will be expected to contribute to a highly
visible research based program within the subject area.
Qualifications:
Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific qualifications within
the subject area. The successful candidate will have a strong
background in using applied industrial organization theory as well as
having a strong background in contract theory. Particular emphasis is
on network analysis. The applicant should have strong oral and written
communication skills. In addition, emphasis will be given to personal
suitability.
Competence:
Applicants should hold a PhD degree or a foreign degree deemed to be
equivalent to a doctorate in Economics or Agricultural Economics. To be
appointed as a post-doc, applicant should have been awarded her/his Ph
D no more than three years ago at the time of application. Applicant
awarded PhD degree more than three years ago can be appointed as a
researcher.
Form of employment: This is a one-year position extendable to two years for qualified candidates.
